Fire extinguishers must be visually inspected at least annually. PFA allows business owners to perform this visual check themselves after being oriented by a Poudre Fire Authority staff member. Every six years, extinguishers need to be mechanically inspected. This must be performed by an authorized servicing company, which can be found by consulting the business directory in the phone book.  Every twelve years, a hydrostatic inspection must be done, once again by an authorized service company.  Depending on the size and type of your business, it could be more effective to contract with an authorized service provider to maintain and inspect all of your extinguishers comprehensively.
