The fire-sprinkler requirement is based on several factors, including:

·         Type of Occupancy classification and/or use as defined in the Fire Code, such as High-hazard, Residential, Fabrication, Storage, Education, Institution, etc.

·         Type of construction (fire-resistance rating)

·         Size of building

·         Whether the structure is considered to be within emergency vehicle access

·         Whether water-supply requirements can be met

·         Depending on the above factors, PFA may require an approved, automatic-fire sprinkler system.
