| What are addressing requirements? |
PFA works with local and county officials to ensure consistent, accurate addressing of properties. A structure is addressed using the name of the street that provides direct access to the property; generally, this is the street you’d park your vehicle on to visit the property, or the street that provides access to a building’s parking lot. New street names cannot duplicate existing street names in the PFA response area, nor can they sound too similar to existing names. PFA maintains a list of street names in its district, and LETA (Larimer Emergency Telephone Authority) also will review proposed names. For more information on Larimer County street-naming criteria, check out the “Rules of the Street” at http://www.co.larimer.co.us/streets/rules.htm Address numerals must be a minimum of 6 inches in height, visible from the street on which it’s addressed and be of a contrasting color to the background. On occasion, and depending on access to the property, the address may also be required to be visible from an additional side of the building, if access does not come directly from the front. Individual unit or suite numerals are required to be at least 4 inches tall.
