
APPLICATION FOR TENT PERMIT
To obtanin a required tent permit, read the following requirements and complete the Application below with the necessary information. We require a minimum of 72 hours to process your permit application. Please make sure to provide your contact information, so we can contact you about your permit status.
Requirements for tents:
1) Any tent or air supported membrane structure over 400 feet 2 requires this permit. Any canopy over 400 feet 2 also requires this permit.
2) $25 fee payable to Poudre Fire Authority.
3) May not be in place for more than 180 days.
4) All membrane structures must be at least 20 feet from buildings, vehicles, or other internal combustion engines including generators and property lines.
5) All membrane structures must be adequately braced to prevent weather-related collapse.
6) All tents, canopies, and temporary membrane structures must be flame retardant or treated with an approved flame retardant. Floor coverings and other decorative materials must be flame retardant or treated with an approved flame-retardant material. Hay, straw or similar material is prohibited inside unless treated with an approved flame retardant.
7) Copy of flame retardant material certification must be on file with the Fire Marshal’s office.
8) 2A:10BC rated fire extinguishers are required for all permitted tents, canopies and temporary membrane structures.
9) Exits need to be provided so that all occupants are within 100 ft or less from an exit. The number of exits shall be in accordance with 2006 International Fire Code, Table 2403.12.2.
10) Exits shall not be obstructed in any manner including trip hazards.
11) Exit signs shall be provided at all exits in an enclosed tent or membrane structure.
12) Exit signs and means of egress shall be illuminated when the tent or temporary membrane structure is occupied.
13) Fireworks, open flames, and devices capable of igniting combustible materials shall not be used inside a tent, canopy, or temporary membrane structure. Portable heaters shall not have their flame source inside the tent, canopy, or temporary membrane structure.
14) Propane cylinders shall not be within 10 feet of the tent, canopy, or temporary membrane structure.
15) PFA requires a minimum of 72 hours notice for tent permit issuance.
16) Additional requirements may be imposed on applicant due to the specific use and types of membrane structure as per Chapter 24 of the 2006 International Fire Code and other applicable rules and/or policies of the Poudre Fire Authority.
